ASUS recently announced their new smartwatch, the VivoWatch. With a sleek exterior, comfortable armband, and a stunning 10-day battery life, smartwatch technology takes yet another step toward perfection.
The VivoWatch has an integrated optical sensor capable of measuring your heart rate, as well as extrapolating calories burned and more. The truly revolutionary function enabled by this sensor is a flashing LED which tells you in real time whether you are over- or under-exerting yourself, and which pace you should hold for the most efficient possible workout. Over time, the sport-tester can help you learn your optimal physical limits, helping you exercise smarter and more consistently.
Further sensors also enable measurement of steps taken, UV sunlight exposure, and the quality and duration of your sleep. Additionally, the watch can replace the annoying screeching of your alarm clock with its unobtrusive yet rousing vibrating alarm function.
Finally, the watch tracks a measure of your general well-being, which takes all these factors into account and generates an index that should correspond to your happiness. Expressed as a percentage, it is easily understood, and you can share it with your friends and family who also use the VivoWatch.
Asus is continually working to improve their software and add new features – for example, they recently added Tetris to the watch to relieve interstitial boredom.
The watch is accompanied by the custom-designed HiVivo smartphone app (Android & iOS) and the ASUS Healthcare website. The application shows calories, workouts, and all the statistics you need for health / quality of life monitoring, all displayed in easy-to-understand graphs and tables. Not only do these apps allow you to view all your accumulated data in one place, they also synchronize automatically across platforms.
