Sleeve Bearing

A sleeve bearing, also known as a plain bearing, is a type of bearing used in fans that are part of complete liquid cooling sets. Its function is based on a simple principle where the fan shaft rotates within a housing filled with lubricant, usually oil. This oil creates a thin film that reduces friction between moving parts and ensures quiet operation. Fans with this type of bearing are generally more affordable. However, their lifespan is affected by the gradual drying out or leakage of the lubricant, which manifests as increased noise and can lead to fan failure. Lifespan also depends on the operating temperature and orientation of the fan, with faster wear occurring in a horizontal position.
