Ingress Protection (IP)

The ingress protection (IP) is an internationally standardised code that identifies the resistance of electrical appliances against the ingress of foreign items and liquids, especially water. It is expressed in the so-called IP code, which consists of the "IP" followed by two digits: the first indicates the protection against dangerous contact and foreign objects, the second indicates the degree of protection against water ingress.

Dual Camera

Dual-camera models feature two cameras - one on the front and one on the rear. This allows you to record the area in front and behind the vehicle.

Resolution

Resolution indicates the number of pixels that make up an image or video. A lot of modern devices are equipped with Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080), which is suitable for display on large screen TVs or monitors. Higher resolution provides smoother images with more detail.

CCD Chip

CCD is a sensor type that records colour images. Image recording is performed by two methods: the location of RGB filters in front of the sensor or filters are placed in front of the pixels in a checkerboard pattern.

G-Sensor

A G-sensor, sometimes called a shock sensor, measures changes in velocity. As a result, it can be used to measure the force and direction of impacts, making it a useful tool in dashcams. In the event of an accident, the G-Sensor automatically locks the video file, ensuring that the video footage is saved both before and after the crash.

Night Vision

Night vision is dependent on light transmission and sensor sensitivity; it does not mean that the camera can see in absolute darkness. High-quality cameras, however, are capable of recording at night in the glow of street lighting. Some can even be used in the absence of artificial lighting. A very good aperture is f / 1.4 or f / 1.6.

Memory Cards

Memory cards are a popular medium for storing video, images and other data. You can choose a memory card according to type, capacity, write speed and brand.

Codec

A codec is a program that automatically records and transforms video and audio recordings. The most commonly used are MPEG2 and MPEG4 codecs. Older devices, such as DVD players, may not support modern formats, but computer incompatibility can be solved by downloading and installing the appropriate codec.

Image compression

To save space, the camera compresses the video recording during capture. This comes at the expense of detail, which means that the video has a poorer image quality. MPEG2 and MPEG4 are the most commonly used codecs.

Digital Zoom

In addition to optical zoom, cameras are often equipped with digital zoom. However, unlike optical zoom, it is not based on changes in focal length and aperture.

Optical Zoom

Optical zoom is the ability of the lens to bring distant objects closer by changing the focal length.

CMOS Chip

CMOS chips are often used in digital cameras. Compared with CCD sensors, they offer a cheaper alternative, with lower power consumption and faster data transfer. CMOS sensors are able to transmit data from each point separately, while CCD sensors work line by line. CMOS sensors are sometimes abbreviated as APS (Active-Pixel Sensor).

Focus

Focus is a process that ensures the subject of a photograph appears clear and sharp. Focus can be achieved using an optical element in the lens, allowing you to focus on objects that are close or distant.

Stabiliser

Stabilisation reduces the effects of camera shake. It can be divided into digital and optical stabilisation, the latter being part of the structure of the lens.

Sensor

The sensor is one of the most important parts of a camera as it greatly affects the final image quality. Important factors to consider include the size of the sensor as well as the number of pixels.

Objektív

The lens directs and focusses light rays onto a camera's sensor chip. It is the most important part of a camera, and often also the most expensive. As a result, its characteristics significantly affect the overall quality of the photos and the camera itself.

Full HD Video

Full HD (High Definition) expresses the highest quality video format, which is designed for playback on big screens.

Memory Cards

Memory cards are the medium on which images and videos are stored. Cards can be chosen by type, capacity, writing speed and brand.
