Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5 are Samsung’s first smartphone models in 2016. Their price tag puts them firmly into the mid-range category, but compared to the older Samsung models of the same price-range these two are made of metal and glass.
At the first glance Samsung Galaxy A3 (2016) and A5 (2016) seem almost like twins and highly resemble the successful Galaxy S6. Their elegant metallic finish and glass display gives them a luxury, classy look. The new models also have a slimmer bezel, further highlighting the screen. The display takes up almost the entire width of the phone, immediately distinguishing them from the last year's models.
Both Galaxy A3 (2016) and Galaxy A5 (2016) are manufactured in several colour varieties, allowing you to choose a phone that will best suit your personality and style.
The two models share a number of design elements, controls, and ports. Additionally, both models support LTE and have a 16 GB internal storage, further expandable with microSD cards.
They also share the same front (5Mpx) and rear (13Mpx) cameras, both with high-resolution and maximum aperture of f/1.9, resulting in a sharper picture and better quality even in low light conditions. With Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) the picture quality is further enhanced by optical image stabilisation (OIS), which prevents blurring.
The smartphones also feature a new wide-screen selfie mode that allows you to take panoramic selfies by merging three images taken from the left, centre and right. Thus your photos can now include considerably more people. The resulting angle can be up to 110 degrees in portrait mode and 120 degrees in landscape mode.
Another new option is the ability to take a selfie without having to press a single button. The latest voice detection software lets you take images with a simple voice command.
The difference between the two models can be found at the internal hardware level. Galaxy A3 (2016), the smaller of the two siblings, features a 4.7" Super AMOLED HD Ready display. A quad-core processor complemented by a 1.5 GB RAM provides a very solid performance. Compared to the last year's models it also has an improved battery capacity, which for Samsung Galaxy A3 (2016) is 2300 mAh.
The specs of Galaxy A5 (2016) are a tad better. It has the same Super AMOLED display as Galaxy A3 (2016), except larger (5.2") and with fine Full HD resolution. The hardware equipment is dominated by an octa-core processor backed by a 2 GB RAM. Compared to the last year's models, the battery capacity is once again much improved, with Galaxy A5 (2016) boasting a truly impressive 2900 mAh.
Finally, it has an in-built fingerprint reader integrated into the Home Button. Actual fingerprint detection is very quick. The Home Button also serves as a fast command to light up the screen. Just keep your finger on the button for a moment or two and Galaxy A5 (2016) is lit up and fully unlocked.
