Camera Cases

A camera case is used to safely carry compact cameras or camcorders without accessories. However, you can also find cases for SLR cameras. Using the camera case extends the life of the device and prevents fall damage. The cases are made to be small and portable, so they can fit into a large pocket or on the belt. Some camera cases are equipped with a small pocket where you can put a spare battery or a memory card.

Camera Case: What Matters and What Doesn't 

Size

The case should be of an appropriate size for the camera so that the device doesn’t clatter around. This prevents damage during transport. However, a case that is too tight also makes it difficult to remove the camera quickly and efficiently. The perfect size is when the internal dimensions of the case are the same as the external dimensions of the camera or a fraction of a millimetre larger. If you want to ensure 100% compatibility, measure your camera before purchasing a case. Meanwhile, the inner pocket is suitable for storing memory cards and other small accessories.

Camera case material

The camera case can be made of hard or soft material. Hard material includes nylon, fabric and canvas. These camera cases feature a very hard shell that provides powerful protection for your device and safeguards it from fall damage. Soft materials include, for example, neoprene or polyester. These camera cases are flexible – it’s easy to extricate the camera from them, but they don’t provide as much fall damage protection as hard-shell cases.

Camera case closure

Most camera cases use a classic zipper. Some models of camera cases also have buckles or a Velcro closure. Rubberised zippers or zippers with a rubber seal prevent water from entering the case. Velcro can be damaged over time and may eventually stop working properly.
