VGA/D-Sub

VGA (Video Graphic Array) is a pin connector used for video transmission. Due to its historical popularity it is still used on modern devices today, so it's important to have some idea what the basic features of this interface are:

  • It works in the RGB (red-green-blue) colour spectrum, which covers 6 of the 15 pins of the connector
  • It is commonly used to connect devices that work with lower resolutions, particularly HD and FullHD
  • The signal is transmitted in analog, so the length of the cable affects the picture quality
