Digital Zoom

In addition to optical zoom, cameras are often equipped with digital zoom. However, unlike optical zoom, it is not based on changes in focal length and aperture.

Rather than actually zooming in, digital zoom crops part of an image and then enlarges it. This leads to an artificial expansion of the image and some loss of image quality. Digital zoom is not a critical parameter when selecting the perfect camera.
