Chainsaws

When buying a chainsaw, consider the location where you usually work. Other things to keep in mind are the diameter and hardness of lumber.

Power source

  • Electricity - electric chainsaws are ideal for odd jobs around the house and garden, where you have a ready access to electricity; they are quieter, cheaper, and have low maintenance.
  • Gasoline - suitable for demanding field work. We recommend thorough maintenance and regular servicing.

Other important features

  • Weight – as a rule, electric chainsaws are lighter (~4 kg) than gasoline ones (~ 5 kg).
  • Bar length – should match the timber diameter. Using a longer bar than what the chainsaw is designed for leads to decrease in performance.
  • Engine power – the longer the bar, the stronger engine you need. For cutting hard wood (such as oak), we recommend purchasing a more powerful saw, with output over 2 HP (1.5 kW)..

Proper maintenance and use

  • Make sure to always wear a face shield or safety goggles. Also important are sturdy boots, gloves, and fitted clothing.
  • The chain must be regularly sharpened using a round file. Get it serviced if you detect more serious wear.
  • Regularly check the chain tension and lubricating oil level.
  • Thoroughly clean the compartment beneath the drive sprocket.
