A hybrid slot (or hybrid Dual SIM) is a slot in your phone that allows you to use either two SIM cards at a time, or one SIM card and one memory card, but not two SIM cards and a memory card.

What is a hybrid Dual SIM?

Hybrid Dual SIM is special slot type for SIM cards and memory cards as well. The fact is that one of the two slots for the SIM card in phone can also hold a memory card. In practice, it means your phone with hybrid Dual SIM slot can either hold two SIM cards, or one SIM card and one memory card. This technology would probably receive great criticism a few years ago. However, nowadays, when more and more phones have 32 GB of internal memory and more, the absence of a memory card is not such a problem.

Is it possible to bypass the hybrid slot somehow?

You have two options if you want to use two SIM cards and a memory card with a hybrid slot at the same time. The official way means buying a special adapter, but skilled users can „improve“ their slot a little. But be careful, in case of a failed attempt the cards or even the entire phone may be permanently damaged, without the possibility of claiming a warranty.

How to do it? You will need just few things, the most important of which is the Nano SIM card and the microSD card. These cards are best suited for editing. You can easily find other things at home. The whole procedure consists of removing the chip from the Nano SIM and then attaching it to the microSD card. How does the hybrid slot differ from the classic Dual SIM slot?

The difference between phones with Dual SIM and phones with hybrid Dual SIM slot is therefore quite obvious. Hybrid Dual SIM slot, as we now know, has only one SIM card slot and for second slot you can choose between SIM kard and a memory card. In the case of a classic Dual SIM slot your options are wider. You can have two SIM cards and memory card simultaneously, without the need for any „modifications“. You will probably appreciate it the most in a push-button Dual SIM phones, where you do not get much space in the form of internal memory.
