Spoločnosť IBM otvára spoločne s americkou Columbia University výskumné centrum zamerané na blockchainové aplikácie, ktoré sa bude nachádzať na manhattanskom kampuse menovanej univerzity. Centrum sa má zaoberať rozvojom blockchainových projektov a akademickým výskumom.

Po MIT a jej Digital Currency Initiative tak ide už o druhú prestížnu americkú univerzitu, ktorá sa bude zaoberať výskumom kryptomien a blockchainu.
