Koss - additional info

Koss is an American company specialising in the production of headphones. It was founded in 1953 by J.C. Koss in Milwaukee, USA. Initially, the company was involved in the rental of hospital TVs, but soon moved into the field of audio technology thanks to its music-loving owner.

Koss shoots to fame with popular headphones

The first Koss audio products to hit the market were a record player and an aviation headset. It was not long before the company introduced other products, including standard headphones. In the 1960s, Koss headphones were popular with some well-known musicians such as Mel Torme and Tony Bennett. Koss quickly became one of the most respected audio brands in America and around the world.

Major milestones:

  • 1969 - Koss headphones are used during President Nixon's Air Force One trips
  • 1970 - The company moves to new, larger premises.
  • 1984 - The company introduced the Koss Porta Pro, one of its most famous headphones
  • 1986 - Koss develops JCK-200 cordless infrared headphones

The legendary Koss Porta Pro

Koss Porta Pro headphones first appeared in 1984, and in the following years they became some of the most popular headphones on the market. They offered excellent sound quality at a reasonable price. To date, millions of Koss Porta Pro headphones have been distributed worldwide. It is remarkable that they are still sold today in a completely unchanged design.
