Bought to use with approx 12kg monitor, unfortunately it was very unstable with it. The bar bends forward at that weight. Also, at the point where the vesa plate that mounts the monitor slides into the holder it is very loose, and thus the weight of the monitor tilts it at this joint and does not hold it straight. Combined with the unstable bar, the monitor is tilted about 30 degrees so you can't even see it.
It's OK for a regular classic monitor, but anything heavier, or even lighter but a saggy monitor with the center of gravity shifted off the axis certainly can't handle it.
Metal rod, there is not much to deal with
Bought because of the advertised load capacity, but it does not correspond to reality
