I bought it because we have an HP 850 and 830 at work and neither suits me. I didn't want to get too far out of line so I got my 845. The main reason for the purchase was the CPU, but otherwise the laptop is really just a polished wretch.
AMD PRO processor.
Simple design.
It's quiet, it doesn't heat up, it doesn't make noise (depending on what you do on it)
Quality display, but it needs to be adjusted.
Touch pad with top row of mouse buttons.
Price
You can get better machines for that price.
Bet on plastic, only the back of the LCD is metal.
The display had to be adjusted, otherwise it was really awful from the factory!
The original Windows installation did not support AMD-V! I had to get a different Windows installer than the one from the restore!
Disastrous keyboard! They have totally ruined ergonomics, I think since the G7!
Which HP "engineer" put the Power key next to Delete?
What intelligent person invented Insert via Fn? Alternatively, use the F key via Fn. It depends on how you set it up in the BIOS.
Try to find the Num key here? It's not! There is not even a numeric keypad option on the QWERTY part!
The Scroll Lock, Break etc. keys are enabled in BIOS with the Fn+ key combination(and now look it up because you have to remember it)!
The Power key flashes as if the laptop is asleep, even though it only has the screen off and running.
Overall a good laptop what HP has cheated with so many minor compromises that only a torso remains of the good Elite series!
