A total fantasy. Yes, the classic book has some appeal, but lugging them around isn't much. Not to mention the fact that the library isn't inflatable either. When you're in good light and have the backlight off on the Kindle, you really feel like you're reading a printed book, the e-ink technology is fantastic. The battery lasts for weeks and weeks, even if you turn on Airplane mode so it doesn't connect anywhere (also, there's no need for the Kindle to call Amazon at home when I'm reading: ))
fantastic e-ink display
battery life
light weight
possibility to customize font / size / line spacing as needed
does not support EPUB format, but there are web converters from EPUB to MOBI on the internet. this is not so much of a problem, because most stores sell the MOBI format anyway

Moving to a newer reader (originally 2 generations) j a huge leap Beautiful large display, easy to upload books directly through our eshops or via the app. Backlight and yellow light and cerny mode = no problem to read at night. It fits in my pocket so I can take the whole library with me everywhere.
lightweight with large display
great battery life
easy settings (font, size, backlight)
dictionaries for reading books in English

A significant upgrade over Paperwhite v4 (2018). Sensible acceleration, no need to have outdated 2.4GHz wifi, USB-C. And most importantly, a warm backlight for the evening. It should be treated as a reader and the library should be administered on a PC, preferably in Calibre, which supports the conversion of virtually all possible and impossible formats. PS: I recommend the font Avenir Next.
Display size
Warm backlight
USB-C
5GHz Wifi
Amazon ecosystem
Amazon Kindle + Goodreads + Audible + Whispersync
Custom TTF fonts
Acceleration over 4th generation
Weak native format support
Solvable via calibre

Previously, you could use calibre to manage

Larger screen. It doesn' t seem like it, but those 0.8 inches make a big difference. I wouldn' t read comics on that, but if you sometimes work with scans in pdf, it' s perfect.
Long battery life and fast charging.
Files can be quickly dragged from your computer.
8GB is terribly much, it can' t be filled.
Very cleverly implemented dictionary.
Once I got stuck looking at a large graphic document. In general, it' s a little slower than I' d like, but it' s going to survive.
Many features are missing when you do not create an Amazon account (unexpectedly). However, among them is the need to create your own bookmarks or sort documents into folders and not just alphabetically. I understand that as a bitch, but again, it doesn' t matter so much.
It doesn' t look completely serviceable.

In the six days since the first charge, the battery has dropped by only 9%. Despite the use.
During the day, the text is great to see without backlighting. The screen is also easy to read in direct sunlight.
Buying e-books from Amazon and downloading text files from PC without problems.
I was a little unsure about buying the ad version, but it was a good decision. Ads are not annoying. They only exist as a screen saver when Kindl is off (which I only see when I wake up the device thanks to the cover), and a pretty inconspicuous bar at the bottom of the home screen (which you won' t even notice if you don' t look at it).
Despite the more expensive price, I decided to buy Kindl in Alza, instead of Amazon, for easier delivery. You cannot order Amazon to the post office, packing room, courier or you can not choose the day of delivery.
No problems so far.
It' s quite more expensive than on Amazon.

Compared to Paperwhite 4, a 0.8 “larger screen may seem negligible, but it' s a huge difference - one or two words wide and five lines more tall.
The screen contrast is also higher than its predecessor, so there is no need to have even the minimum backlight on, while the text remains beautifully legible.
There is nothing wrong with this reader with the “Be Safe“ cover.
Combined with buying books directly through Amazon, this is a dream product for every avid reader.
With each new generation, I say to myself that there is nothing to improve; But Amazon always surprises and, if I put the previous generation side by side (comparison when unpacking - with the open chapter of the book on both readers), I wonder how I could hesitate to buy a new model: -)
The only downside is that the reader in the package is best held in the right hand; in his left hand he wants to first find the right “grip“ so that it doesn' t fall off - but that' s not the fault of the reader or the cover; rather, each new generation requires a few days of training to find the ideal “center of gravity“ in the palm of their hand.
