Even expensive smart TVs don't have the responsiveness and capabilities of Apple TV. It's basically a little crap gaming console and a replacement for the clumsily written Netflix, Disney+, Voyo and other streaming services that sometimes don't work as they should on TVs. Compared to Google's Chromecast, which often got stuck and turned off or wouldn't let you download the app (o2 TV) because it considered you a user from a country other than the Czech Republic, it's a luxury. Plus, when you take Google TV with you on the go, it forgets all the settings and you have to set it up again. Not with Apple TV, it's just like at home (you just have to specify the Wifi based on where you connect). Loud Sound Dampening mode is great when you have nervous neighbours. The remote responds perfectly even without pointing at the TV. Updates are automatic and do not disturb you. There's plenty of apps and games to choose from, and Apple Music is great too. FaceTime on TV is nice, but you don't get much use out of it. Together with a soundbar or headphones (AirPods), the sound potential is fully exploited (Dolby Atmos). So if you think you have a smart TV, this will convince you otherwise.
For those of you on Android, stick with it. You're not the one to thank.

The remote can also turn on the TV (learns the frequency for volume and HDMI-CEC)
In SDH 50Hz mode on TV the picture flickers a bit (this will be my old-fashioned LG) so I prefer 60Hz
Need to charge the USB-C controller every 3 months (it only takes 30 minutes)
HDMI 2.0 cable must be purchased
