I needed to use the head over Zigbee2MQTT with a connection to Home Assistant. Pairing via Zigbee2MQTT was without problems. I don't know if it's a common thing, but for example it didn't pair through the sockets, it needed to reach the coordinator and only after pairing it would catch on the sockets.
The head's pretty noisy. Since I only have one, I can't tell if it's a defective piece or a common feature.
OTA via Zigbee2MQTT does not work.
Does not report the position (%) of the valve, e.g. both OTA and valve position report work with Immax head.
For some reason, Aqara is moving the valve every now and then. It's just short bursts, but it happens often enough, I've observed it every minute, but I haven't found a pattern. Why it does this I don't know, but the measured ambient temperature was maybe 2° higher than the set temperature, so the valve should be closed.
In any case, such behaviour will lead to rapid battery drainage.
I compared the measured temperature between Immax, Aqara and room thermostat. I put them all in one place next to each other. Immax and room thermostat measured +-0.5° the same, Aqara measured 2° more.
Manual setup is bad enough. The rotating part of the head scrubs plastic on plastic. Not only does it scrub and make rattling noises, but the adjustment sometimes skips, sometimes it skips a few degrees. To make the adjustment more precise, the plastic must be squeezed more in the fingers. The inner plastic wheel clearly has more play than it should have.
The valve actuating stem is obviously plastic, who knows what it looks like inside. For example. Immax has it metal.
So the Aqaru head is pretty bad and I'll be returning it. Whether this is a general problem or a defective piece I unfortunately cannot judge now.

The head is not only nice, but also functional so far. In general I like Aqara products and I have enough of them in my smart home. I am sorry that it is not yet possible to add to Conbee II and thus to NodeRed, so that one can set automations and conditions at will. hopefully soon: )
