It allows control of 5V/3p ARGB accessories using the 12V/4p output from the board - that's why I bought it. Probably the only product I could track down that can do that.
By allowing control from the board, it doesn't limit the colors to just a few presets.
The controller does have a diode, but it is only an indication (not IR) - you can have the controller buried deep in the cabinet and it will still pick up the signal.
The screw holes fit the standard SSD size, the back also has a place to stick double-sided tape/magnet (also included)
Economical packaging with everything you need, including accessories and battery.
Bland design - a plus for me; if you don't have room in the back and have to install from the front, it won't visually interfere.
Cheap. This is despite the fact that no other controller (commonly available in our country) can convert from analog RGB to digital.
Not exactly simple and easy to understand wiring. (using a splitter from 8-pin PWM+12V/4p RGB to 1x 4p PWM fan and 1x 12V/4p RGB)
The mounting screws are non-standard, the holes are not threaded - the screw is simply drilled through the plastic, it needs to be held straight. It has no effect on functionality.
Only useful for people with a 12V/4p RBG board, or a board with no RGB outputs at all.
Very small minus - some colors on the controller are close to the real color, but some are quite far away. It depends partly on what you are controlling.
