beautiful design - very thin and lightweight
super display - OLED is a really good choice
beautiful sound - this surprised me, the speakers are quite loud and the sound quality is good
decent battery life
the backlit keyboard and numeric in the touchpad is great. When you work in Excel a lot, it's really useful
fingerprints are often visible on the surface

This was one of the candidates to replace the M1 Macbook Air and iPad Air. Currently, I would prefer a Windows device and one of the key requirements is related to minimal, ideally zero noise Who is used to actively cooled machines, then you can add a star to the rating. For me, the final argument to return was mainly the "monitor sound" when scrolling/changing content over the cursor from the mouse. So I'm going to try out the Yoga 7 gen 7 with Intel and then the only thing left is a passive Surface 7 Pro
Great construction, basically comparable to Apple in terms of rigidity, no flex keyboard, displays.
Fine 2.8k display (150% scaling = 1920x1200, 200% = 1440x900), OLED, 550nit, DCI-P3. 90Hz
Ryzen 7 5800H - although older, still a very powerful piece (CB23 with max power limit I measured 10800 points in multi), but here you have to reckon with the noise, both fans spin 7000 revolutions, the motors are quiet, but the air flow is huge
Windows 11, the only McAfee bloatware besides MyASUS app, and 5 Office365 languages.
Touch pen included. The AAAA battery is already right in it, but beware, there is an insulating insert to keep the pen from being active during transport, the battery needs to be pulled out and removed. The pen was automatically detected
SSD 3000 read, 1600 write, decent values, but beware, it is an Intel 670p, i.e. QLC where the write speed depends on the size of the SLC cache - disk occupancy.
Fingerprint reader in the power button, very accurate
Numberpad for lovers of numeric blocks
The trackpad surface, almost like Apple's.
USB-C is only 3.2 gen 2, but fully featured, supporting both DP Alt Mode and Power Delivery.
Reliable tactile operation of the keys, although I personally don't quite like their shape.
On a bright surface with higher brightness when viewed from about 30cm you can see a smear of the touch layer. It looks like "digital" noise, for some it can be distracting. On a dark background you can't see it and when playing a video you can't see it
When powered from the mains, even with minimal load (open OneNote, Edge with YT video playing) in about a minute / two-minute interval even in whisper mode, the fans run at 2900 rpm, in the office it is lost, in a quiet room it is clearly audible. The fans do not spin up when running on the same battery.
When powered from the mains, a buzzing sound can be heard roughly in the middle of the laptop, I registered it with my ear max 10cm away from it, when running from the battery it is much less pronounced
When an external monitor with speakers is connected, a very muffled buzzing sound is heard when the mouse cursor changes content, it is barely perceptible and the volume in Windows and on the monitor does not affect its intensity. Apparently a problem related to HW acceleration of the mouse cursor, I couldn't find a solution, but people report the same problems in connection with AMD graphics, someone might not notice it at all.
By default the automatic rotation of the display according to position was disabled, it took a while to activate it because in standard mode the field is inactive in the settings
Trackpad without haptic response.
The Home, EDN, PGup and PGDn buttons on the right can be confusing for a while, it will take some time to get used to their presence.
When using the touch pen I often felt like I was making dents in the display, which of course it doesn't, but sensationally multiple does. Worse than the not-so-perfect Apple pencil, let alone Samsung's S-Pen.
A relatively small, but unsightly charger, a cube with a fixed USB-C cable and a connector on the other side for connecting a 3pin cable to the network. I did not unpack, I use my own charger or 90W PD gives me directly the monitor
One USB-C would be useful on the other side to allow docking/charging from both sides
USB-C only 3.2 gen 2, no USB4, let alone Thunderbolt
Sound worse than from monitor, not distorted but lacking bass. Relatively quiet, who's heard Macbooks so basically anything else is misery
Some may be bothered by the exhaust fans on both sides. Personally, I was considering using it in tent or presentation mode, or fully enclosed in a stand, so that's a plus for me. If you have it in front of you like a classic laptop, the warm air will blow into your hand where you have a mouse case and it doesn't matter if you're left or right handed this ASUS doesn't discriminate against either: )

I don't recommend it. I thought that with Asus' flagship, one can be sure to get something that works. I give that one star to Alza for (as always) perfect service, not the laptop. I returned the computer two days after I picked it up without any problems, and Alza sent me my money back two days later. That's why I buy from you.
Looks good.
The paper box that your laptop comes in has lots of crumple zones, so the computer won't get damaged when you go to return it.
You'll be happy with it. If it gets stolen.
It cannot set the time automatically. In the time menu, there is an option to enter the date and time manually, but every time the device is restarted, the option incomprehensibly reverts to getting the time automatically and the time is shifted meaninglessly 8 hours into the future.
I can't click with the touchpad. Well, hardware-wise, yes, so you can click to the beat without accidentally triggering anything. I soon found out that laptops from asus often suffer from this problem, and on YT found a lot of tutorials how to solve the problem (see. asus touchpad not working, videos have hundreds of thousands of views). Some of the manuals are quite complex and even more than 2 years old, so the problem is long term (and asus is doing nothing about it! ). However, I gave it time and tried everything I could find, but the problem persisted. By the way, the touchpad driver was dated 2006, but according to the diagnostics it was up to date and the device worked correctly. In the comments of one how-to-fix video someone wrote that it didn't solve the problem, and that it may be that the troubleshooting is done for Intel, but he has an AMD configuration. I had that one too. I was gritting my teeth by then.
After about two hours of failure, I tried to log in to my YT account to stop the ads from screaming at me, and the laptop rebooted itself. That was too much, I returned it to its original condition and took it back after the weekend.
