The temperature of the PCI 5.0 SSD is surprisingly up to 70C even without load, the disk connector on the MB has a temperature at least a few degrees higher. The passive heatsink with one heatpipe included with the MB felt cooler. But I don't notice any effect on operation and stability so far.

the foil on the copper heat sink can be difficult to remove
the cooler is quite low, it would probably fit next to the chart. cards in PCI slot
