Unfortunately the external power supply also powers the male usb connector to the host device. Causes problems when used with raspberry pi (endless restarts). When used with a PC ok, but I would still prefer to unplug it when not in use.

Connecting an externally powered hub (with a mobile phone charger) makes the USB ports of an OFF (really even turned off, not put to sleep) laptop (Asus X555LD) are still active. If the hub is connected without ext. power supply, USB ports of the switched off laptop are also, as expected, switched off.
