I bought this card so that I could access the system on my home server without having to pull out and plug in the monitor and other peripherals (keyboard). The adapter appears in Linux, registers 4 serial ports, but none of them work. After a bit of research, I found out that the standard serial8250 driver with this chip (ax99100) will not work. Since this card does not use a “compatible“ chip, it cannot be used, for example, to log an early XEN output or to the GRUB menu via a serial console. So in my case, this card is very impractical. But I can imagine that for someone who wants to put it on a computer in order to control obsolete devices, it may make sense. However, in this case I would rather recommend a USB-RS232 converter (e. g. with the FT232 chip, which has native support in Linux [ftdi_sio]). If you have similar intentions as I do, I would rather recommend a card based on another chip.

Removable connector; with a little DIY you can pull out one connector on the front panel for convenient access to the device' s serial console.
Non-standard chip (AX99100) => Drivers need to be installed.
The driver is not part of the Linux kernel (tested with kernel 4.19, but the driver is not in the mainline either). Manual driver compilation is required.
Due to a non-standard driver, do not expect the bootloader to recognize the device (e. g. GRUB via serial port).

You must first install the Software and then turn off the PC and insert the card into PCIex. If you put the card first and then install the Software, it will not catch on. (It is written in bold in the manual)
