After going through reviews and experience with cheap but usable binoculars, I had this one in mind. And when this showed up in stock as a used item. the choice was clear. I can't fault the lens and tube in this price range, and the rest can be upgraded and replaced over time: better eyepieces, viewfinder, prism, reposition to another mount,. The results of the first practical balcony test: The Pleiades and Hyades don't fit the whole field of view, but it draws them beautifully. On Jupiter I can make out 2 stripes with ease, and with a little effort 3 stripes plus a hint of a fourth; plus of course Jupiter's moons around. Assembly runs as it should, fine running in both directions too. Just a note for Alza: 1) If the box and the inside of the box are torn, it wouldn't hurt to touch it up with a little duct tape so it doesn't start falling apart and spilling in my hands on the way back from the branch. 2) Likewise, the bubble wrap the manufacturer put around the more delicate parts is there to be used; not that they're thrown into a box separately. 3) I don't know if it was done by the previous customer or the one who checked the return, but the tube, the aperture and the eyepiece boxes were sticky from something. And you didn't give that kind of discount again.
The optics of the lens are decent - the whole field of view is free of visible distortions and defects (except for slightly bluish edges of objects, but this is due to the fact that it is a "mere" achromat)
The lens mount is plastic, but the tube itself is a thin-walled aluminium tube and, most importantly, the eyepiece extractor is a solid aluminium casting
I have nothing to complain about the focusing operation
Apart from the screws for the attached viewfinder, it has standard sleds for something better
There are covers and caps for everything, even the funny viewfinder
Easy to assemble; no IKEA jigsaw puzzle
80mm lens (for an astronomical refractor this is accepted as a minimum)
The mount could be sturdier, but when I compare it to what comes with other scopes in this price range, it's gold. And that's enough to get you started.
The included eyepieces are, of course, the cheapest possible (Huyghens + Ramsden), but they are good to start with.
The attached plastic viewfinder cannot be properly aligned with the telescope
Barlow's attached. let's just say a smiley

Perfect for beginners
It is not possible to buy accessories - other lenses, cameras, etc. on eBay
Sighting optics are unusable. The image in it is upside down and also shifts completely different every time you touch it.

As a beginner/amateur telescope, I don't think it's wrong.
Pretty good quality assembly.
Excellent quality/price ratio.
After two weeks of taking it, I can't think of anything yet.
