The case has a combined construction - hard plastic coated on the inside with suede, on the outside with rubber. After approx. 1 year of use (and frequent putting in the front pocket of the pants, and taking it out again), the outer rubber layer started to peel off significantly from the inner hard plastic in the corners and edges. The original silicone cases from Apple do this as well and they lasted even less time for me, so for the price they are definitely better than the original Apple ones - that' s why 3 stars.
