I own the product for a short time (my first scanner of this type), I scanned 2 books - 600 pages on matte paper and 1000 pages on glossy paper. The larger book took about 70 minutes. If you export including OCR (searchable PDF, Word, RTF), it takes several hours to export 1000 pages. I haven't tried exporting without OCR yet. PDF can be exported in 3 quality levels. Even with the low quality setting, the result is nicely readable and the file is not that huge (high quality 600 pages approx 900MB, low quality approx 250MB). Searching in PDF file works great (good OCR). I was quite surprised how nicely the program handles export to a Word file. With minor adjustments (it doesn't recognize some bullet styles, sometimes formats tables incorrectly), you get a usable and eminently readable transcript of a scanned book, with images cut and pasted in the right places, with the right captions.
Summarized: So far I rate it as an excellent product, from workmanship to functionality. Very quickly you are able to scan entire books without destroying the binding and get a readable digital version, plus a text search function. The only shortcoming I've encountered so far is uneven page lighting (when opening an A4 book - the resulting A3 double-page format - the bottom edges of the pages are darker).
