As soon as one uploads OpenWRT and sets the relayd, the value of the relayd is doubled. However, the manufacturer (apparently in a failed attempt to filter out duplicate packets that its stock firmware sends) also filters out the desired DHCP Offer responses coming into it from the upstream AP (it filters out about 90% of them, but occasionally lets a few through). Its stock firmware does this too, so it takes 10 minutes for the device to get an address via DHCP. Fortunately, you "only" need to patch the upstream DHCP server if you have it under your control: add sleep(1) before sending the Boot Reply message type (2) packet. A pause of a second in Reply after the previous Request message will disable its filter (I guess it "forgets"? ). Then it suddenly becomes one of the best options on the market for 2.4G and for a few bucks. Performance is fine, it has 2-streams MIMO. I lost two days debugging, but I'm satisfied in the end.

So I was looking for something cheap and handy in the dusty basement where I have a workshop, the basement I have under the house about 3 meters under the ground, standard WiFi me there at times reached and at times not and the connection speed was up to 1 Mbit so I paired this little guy in the room through the PC at the WiFi and took it to the basement and very surprised, the connection speed holds at 14 Mbit and works great
