I use this scarecrow on martens. I've had it for a few years now and it works great. I only play it during the winter or when there are sounds of a marten running on the facade of my house at night. After switching on the device, the next night will not come.
It covers a fairly large area, but doesn't aim around the corner. That's why I have 2 devices at my house, each pointing at a different side of the house.

Effectiveness is difficult to assess objectively. It works on some mice and other rodents, some don't seem to care. It has to be admitted that there is some improvement, they appear less frequently, the marten has escaped (but it is hard to say if by itself or because of this device - as this was happening even before its installation). It is certain that unfortunately miracles do not happen and some creatures still appear.

We have used this older type of deramax scarecrow for about 5 years and have been extremely satisfied. Unfortunately, it fell on the pavement and broke, and within a week or so the mice were back in the basement. I ordered this new one and within 2 days the mice are gone again. The older type of scarecrow was ticking and this new one is no longer ticking and is completely silent. We definitely recommend both the scarecrow and the supplier, we needed to deal with it quickly, we ordered in the afternoon in alza and the next morning the scarecrow was in alzabox.

Two crucial things:
1) Not functional, it is a marketing deception with no established effectiveness (see below).
2) Outside the high frequency band, the device emits a very annoying accompanying ticking sound.
After switching it on, the device immediately started to emit a very annoying, regular and audible ticking noise. So I contacted the manufacturer directly, saying that the device is declared in the manual with the sentence "the device does not disturb or annoy the surroundings" and on the manufacturer's website with the sentences: “. noiseless for humans as well as for common pets and farm animals" and "works in the ultrasonic field, does not disturb its surroundings with unpleasant noise and is completely silent. " All these three sentences are false and misleading, the device is NOT SILENT!
I was told by the manufacturer:
“. The ticking of the device is not strictly necessary, it is related to the built-in function of changing the intensity of the ultrasound signal. This feature increases the effectiveness of the scarecrow, but does not have a significant effect. To deactivate the ticking, unscrew the rear cover of the unit and set switch #1 on the eight-pole DIP switch to the off position (simply the opposite position from where it is located). Leave the other switches in their default position! This deactivates the ultrasonic signal intensity change function and eliminates the ticking of the instrument. "
This unfortunately limits the functionality of the device to one stable frequency, as the manufacturer's settings result in a random change of frequency so that the rodents do not get used to one stable frequency.
In any case, no ultrasonic tone can repel any rodent species living in the Czech Republic. A camera system with FullHD resolution, motion sensor, recording and night infrared illumination was installed at the site. The frequency of rodents in an enclosed area of approximately 15 m2 was identical when the scarecrow was switched off and on. Mice, weasels and marten have been recorded. The scarecrow was directed directly into the guarded area without physical obstructions with direct visibility to the entire area of the site. According to the manufacturer's claims, it is necessary to wait several weeks for the desired effect. The device was plugged in continuously for 2 months.
