The device itself is probably fine, but it's not a fire or smoke detector for the kitchen. It is directly stated in the instructions that it is unsuitable for the kitchen, which I verified. At minimum smoke it triggers an alarm and cannot be switched off by a button on the body. It's blowing until the air comes out. After the first two alarms he is apparently "loaded" and reacts even to the steam from the potatoes.
It is not intended for the kitchen, which I read in the instructions (probably my mistake)

after seven months of use, a false alarm went off. I took the battery out and put it right back in. the detector seems to be working normally again, but I don't trust it anymore.
