Catastrophic service, faulty HDMI and total failure by Alza – DO NOT RECOMMEND
I strongly advise against buying this expensive projector (Epson EH-LS800B). On this unit, absolutely all HDMI inputs gradually failed, meaning in the end, it was impossible to play anything through it. To top it all off, the service centre's unbelievable attitude and the complete failure of Alza itself was the final straw.
First repair: The projector came back from the service centre in a much worse state than when it went in. The HDMI inputs still didn't work, plus the system was completely frozen, lagged, and the device didn't respond to the remote control at all. On top of that, it was a botched job physically too – the body wasn't clipped together properly and the plastic parts didn't align. The first "repair" took just 6 days including transit, and clearly, no one at the service centre even turned the device on before sending it back to the customer.
Second repair: Since the device was completely unusable, the projector had to go straight back. The second attempt took over 20 days. When the device was finally returned to me, the report cheekily stated that the "fault did not manifest itself" and my claim was REJECTED. Furthermore, the technician hid in the report behind completely nonsensical excuses about safety sensors (which are only there for eye protection and have absolutely nothing to do with faulty HDMI inputs).
Major failure by Alza: Alza, as the retailer, failed completely in this situation and didn't stand up for the customer at all. Even though I sent them clear video proof of the unusable state the projector was returned in after the first repair, Alza did nothing about it and endorsed the rejected claim.
Although by some miracle the projector finally works after the second claim (meaning the service centre clearly worked on it during those 20 days and secretly fixed the inputs), the fact that they are trying to avoid liability by rejecting the claim is the height of untrustworthiness. Avoid this brand and their service centre like the plague. It is not worth the money.
Epson service is a massive disaster
