Since it is a travel kettle, it is not a removable inlet or bottom as most people are used to with a regular kettle, so I would not even take it as a negation. You just have to get used to it and pour it right next to the kettle or unplug it and pour it only when the mugs are somewhere further on the table.

Really quiet - we bought it for the babies, to have a place to boil water on the road. Even when we turned on the kettle in the same room where the baby slept, it was so quiet that it didn't wake him up.
It takes a little longer to boil the water, but it is not extreme.
