This product exceeded my expectations. I bought this product to measure the moisture content of firewood. After several published reviews that the product does not measure accurately, but only indicatively, I took the trouble to rent a professional wood moisture meter from a professional work tool rental shop. After measuring about 10 logs of different types of wood with different diameters, both instruments measured very similar values for all of them, with the largest difference being 5% for fresh pine. For me, the difference in measured values of 41 or 46% does not matter. I know that this wood is not suitable for heating, using one or the other of the devices. The professional hygrometer had the option to choose between hard/soft wood for very accurate measurements. Otherwise, the measured differences ranged from 0-2%. Negligible.
If you have a new solid fuel stove/boiler and want to be sure of dry wood for heating, this is an excellent choice for me to check it out.
The only thing I have to criticize is the type of batteries used and the impossibility to calibrate the measurements. I didn't find it in the manual.
