Protective glass when shooting against the light (for example, just against a window in a room) causes lens flare or blur or fog around the light object. When shooting with a flash, the flash is partially captured and scattered across the protective glass, which dazzles the lens in such a serious way that you can't distinguish the objects in the part of the image at all, and the photos overall are unpresentable. Unusable, fundamentally downgrades the camera to the level of a toy ten years past its zenith. I had the protective glass for two weeks and removed it during the second photo shoot.
