With a power consumption of about 400mA, it will discharge a regular NiMH AAA in about 2 hours when lit (4 hours when flashing), so this can mean recharging the batteries after basically every ride. USB/wireless charging would be worthwhile here - not disassembling and removing batteries every time. High luminosity can be critical in daylight in alleys, etc., when cars may have active daytime running lights and will therefore not be reflectors for the driver to shine on the bike. At night, the flasher must be visible for at least a kilometre, even lower power would be enough.
