Compared to what we bought from the same manufacturer about 20 years ago, the performance of this one is at least a class worse. But it slices and cuts just as well.

Unlike other slicers, where you can't completely control the starting and stopping of the motor, in this slicer the motor that drives the blade is switched on and off manually - by a rocker switch. So you start the motor, slice and switch off at the end of the slicing. The knife runs all the time.
The slicer is equipped with a plastic sliding food holder that rides on metal rails. This trolley has a removable stop on it to prevent it from falling off the rails on either side. When the sliding holder is fitted, the maximum width of the sliced food is 22.5 cm and the maximum height is 14 cm.
Unlike other slicers, this slicer can be used to slice even very bulky foods. Just remove the lock from the sliding holder (no tools required) and slide the plastic holder out of the metal rails. The slicing width then becomes unlimited and the height also increases to 16 cm. Only 1 cm of the 17 cm diameter cutting disc cannot be used because it is 1 cm recessed.
To make the slicer easy to hold, there are rubber suction cups on the underside. I also really appreciate that the suction cups are only on one side and so you can easily lift one side to peel the suction cups off again. But even on the side without suction cups there is a non-slip rubber surface.
The slicing blade is very sturdy and so far I have not managed to misalign it, so slicing is very precise. This is achieved, among other things, by the fact that the knife is not made as a full circle, but as an intermediate ring, so that the maximum length that could possibly bend is reduced to 2 cm of very strong steel (the larger circumference has a diameter of 17 cm and the smaller 13 cm).
In addition to the sliding holder that rides in the rails, the slicer also includes a plastic part for pressing the cheese or salami in a perpendicular direction to the cutting plane. In order to fix the sliced food, this pressure holder is equipped with approx. 200 spikes. The last piece that is included is a rectangular plastic plate for slicing.
Unlike other slicers, there are no bits of pastry and the like falling into any of the crevices. Any dirt is very easy to remove, because if you move the sliding holder to the stop, a 2 cm wide gap is easily accessible between the blade and the slicer body.
The length of the power cable is approx. 1.2 m, but you cannot select the side where the cable will come out of the slicer.
At the bottom of the slicer is a relatively large manufacturing label which, in addition to many details, also contains the manufacturer's website. I was very pleased that the slicer was not made in China, as evidenced by the "Made in Germany" mark.
It is a very modern product where you may be surprised by the absence of any plastic packaging material. It even lacks the usual plastic-wrapped wire on the coiled electrical cable, which is just coiled into itself. The instructions are made of recycled paper. You may find fine dust from the cardboard box on the plastic, but I personally prefer this gentler way of packaging than covering every piece of plastic with plastic wrap. To make sure that the product is new, there is a self-adhesive seal with the Graef logo on the lid of the box, which must be cut through before opening.
Overall, I recommend the slicer with the caveat that it could be less noisy.
According to the recitation and also according to the information about the transmission, I had the wrong expectation that this slicer would be very quiet. Maybe that's why I list the higher noise level as a negative here. The sound is like a blender running at low speed. It is still possible to talk while slicing, but it is not comfortable - sometimes you can't hear over the noise of the slicer and you need to raise your voice or increase the volume if you are listening to something. When the knife gets into the bite, the speed and noise are only slightly reduced.
If you use the slicer with the mobile holder, your fingers are separated from the knife by a plastic divider and it is very safe. The same applies if you use the plastic pressure holder to press the cheese, for example, which runs perpendicularly on the main holder - here too your fingers are separated from the knife, even if you cut all the way through. However, if you slide the mobile holder out of the rails or if you do not use the smaller holder to push towards the knife, you will be working with the rotating knife exposed. Your hand will only be separated from the knife by the food being cut, so you need to be very careful not to look away, for example. I would not allow children to cut with the holder removed for safety reasons.

It works well - I recommend it
With very thin slices (uherak) the disc bends and the slices are often irregular.
