everything was great at first. Easy to use, light, nice and ideal for work and play. Unfortunately, after less than a year, the touchpad and battery started to fail. Now it's overheating, the battery won't last....

Since I read a number of reviews on this type before I got it for my daughter (12), I feel the need to refute some of the conclusions:
When you open it up, it's a standard laptop, you won't know the difference. The display is bright, the body is solid and rigid enough, even though it is plastic. The speakers are on the bottom, but on sloping sides, so they sound good in all positions. I also bought an HP pencil, my daughter loves to draw and wants to use it like this too, looking forward to the experience. Overall, I am extremely satisfied and it is again a quality HP machine, of which we have several at home. I can definitely recommend the purchase.

the camera does not have a cap, this is a failure
ironically, the keyboard is almost not visible when there is enough daylight - it is necessary to turn off the backlight and then everything is ok. There's a button for that. the combination of white backlighting and bright keys is unfortunate. Shutting down during the day solves this sufficiently though, so no need to worry about it.
