After 8 years I decided to replace my old Dell Inspiron Touch. Since I was very happy with the Dell, I originally wanted to reach for the Dell again, but then I came across this HP model, which offers better features (more memory, newer generation processor) for the same price, plus a larger display with a separate numeric keypad.
The essential parameter for me was a touchscreen (you get used to it very quickly and then you don't want it any other way), ideally rotatable by 360° (even this is practical in bed) and at least an i5 processor.
First impressions are good, although the ergonomics of the swivel display are worse compared to the Dell. In retrospect, I'm glad I finally decided to go with a larger display (compared to the older 14' nb with a wider bezel, it's not that much larger, it's more like a bit more weight). A little strange is the placement of the speakers on the bottom of the laptop, but the sound is good. I'm not able to evaluate the battery yet, but 5 hours will hopefully last.
touchscreen swivel (when flipped more than 180°, the keyboard is deactivated and the laptop works like a big heavy tablet)
large SSD memory (1 TB) and large RAM (16 GB) is slightly above standard in this price range
separate numeric keypad (you can also type the * character on it, which is otherwise a problem on the new HP)
reliable i5 processor, with which I have good experience (last generation 12, many laptops currently have the previous generation 11)
3 years warranty
the fingerprint reader is very practical - faster login without entering a PIN
silver colour looks more elegant than classic black
the package includes only a classic charger with its own charging connector, but USB-C can also be used for charging
it's an HP that I have good experience with as a business laptop
ergonomics of opening the lid (when the lid is lifted, the bottom edge of the lid serves as a "foot", i.e. the back of the body lifts into the air), Dell has designed the hinges of the rotating displays much better
unwanted software pre-installed (Amazon, Spotify, McAfee, Minecraft Education. )
compared to a similar Dell model, it looks worse in terms of build quality
switching is directly on the keyboard (i.e. when you have it connected to the monitor, you can't turn it on without lifting the lid)
the touchpad doesn't look very good (such a wobbly plate, around which there are large gaps)
made in China
combination of function keys with volume, brightness, etc. is very impractical (e.g. when working in Excel), but unfortunately this is now standard for all brands
no memory card slot
impractical shape of the Enter key (smaller than I'm used to)
plastic chassis (hinges are of course metal)
the camera does not have a "honidekl" (like e.g. HP EliteBook series)
I don't consider any of the cons mentioned to be essential
