First of all, it must be said that the product description is not completely accurate (wrong description from the manufacturer, Alza is innocent of that). This is primarily a sensor for the opening of rolling or tilting garage doors. Whether they are metallic is irrelevant. The main thing is that the sensor is mounted on the ground - it is mobile, and its transmitter unit on the cable is mounted sideways on the wall. The magnet is just placed on the door. For me, you can also use a cheaper sensor for ordinary doors / windows and you will only use this in certain specific situations.

the description of the product is misleading - it is a sensor for opening the folding or rolling garage door, or where you need a sensor that can withstand passing by a car (beveled part of the unit - see photo)
