I was looking forward to buying a new i7 in K version and a massive cooler to go with it. Unfortunately, the processor is so thirsty it's impossible. even the best air from noctua and even the waterman from Artic 420mm can't do it even using liquid metal.

Higher power consumption, I also connected a second CPU power connector to the board for safety. It can take a peak of just over 250W
I recommend cooling it with a really powerful water cooling system with a 360 mm radiator. I'm cooling a Corsair H150i Elite LCD and at full load max. 74°C. With inadequate cooling, it would then pull down the clock speeds of the cores in performance and higher temperatures

Satisfaction, but it's a surprise that in RAM compatibility it looks like a brand new product with a small number of compatible models.

temperatures remain the same as 12700K in the same case with Noctua chromax. black
extra performance is not only in benchmarks and extra load apps, but also in web browsing, especially on sites with a lot of javascript
you need to be careful on 600 series chipsets to update not only the uefi (bios) but also the ME firmware. If it's too old it can drop the first m.2 slot and look like it's out of order.
also the RAM compatibility does not match the alleged light revision of Alder Lake at all. So certainly if RAM was supported in AL it is not at all certain that it is supported in 13gen. Kingston has the most RAM and the most supported are G. Skill.
If RAM is unsupported it may not even run at the base XMP frequency and you have to wait for a new efi where compatibility is added. The worst is if all 4 DIMM slots are occupied.

I'm switching from an i5-6600 and I'm incredibly happy to have this component gracing my PC (so far I'm choking it but gtx 1070: / But next year this should change ) It is cooled by ARCTIC Freezer 34 with Grizzly Hydronaut thermal paste (3,9g/1,5ml) and they are mounted in Fractical Design R6 case (6 fans) so they can breathe.

3,4GHz and Boost 5,4 and I put it at 6GHZ: D

temperature does not exceed 65*C in games
I reckon I'll be upgrading in 6 years with that kind of performance (I'm not demanding)
