I bought the NUC as a Linux server and as a smaller backup PC. I previously had a larger SoC from ASRock and the jump is really big. As a Linux server it works perfectly. 16GB RAM + 1TB SSD and it runs absolutely perfect. It's not passively cooled, it has a fan in it, but it's barely audible. The price for the NUC itself is quite reasonable, you just need to buy RAM and SSD. For a small multimedia center, a server or a backup PC it is definitely a good option.
