This is my second basket - the first one lasted three years and the reason for the replacement was the buttons were squeezed - it didn't affect the functionality of the basket, I just didn't like it at all. The motor of the lid opening drive is powered by four AA batteries and their lifetime is of course very dependent on the frequency of opening the basket. In my experience the battery lasts about two months. The advantage is that you can use rechargeable batteries - the battery life is slightly reduced, but that doesn't matter. On the back of the lid there is a release button, which makes it easier to work when changing the bag, when the lid does not open unnecessarily. The garbage bag is then secured with a plastic hoop so that the bag cannot fall into the bin.
I am very satisfied with the basket overall, which is why I bought a second one. The only thing that's a bit disappointing is that the manufacturer doesn't produce a matte version of the basket - on the glossy surface everything is terribly visible.
