I purchased the laptop as a sort of compromise between a gaming and a work laptop for college. I hope I don't say here that the laptop is bad because of my poor technical knowledge, and that I'm just a dork, but that in general everyone has similar problems. Power
I bought the laptop mainly for school. It handled normal work, watching movies and a 350-part CAD build just fine, too.
As far as games go, I'm already a bit skeptical. It seemed to me that the laptop didn't have the drivers for the famous Intel graphics pre-installed. Games were choppy and FPS was consistently pretty low. So I installed the Lenovo drivers on this laptop and not much change. Then I installed the drivers directly from Intel and I think it improved.
I tried games like Mafia II (not the definitive edition) and without drivers it ran pretty poorly with frequent crashes. The drivers then eliminated it. Same with Spyro, who was saved by the drivers. The Witcher 3 runs pretty cool at those 60 frames with occasional drops with the details reduced quite a bit, Divinity II holds up similarly to The Witcher. Minecraft much modded (Sevtech ages) was impossible to play. For honor it is incomprehensible to me how they can jump from 30 to 60 frames randomly during a match and at low enough detail. Sea of Thieves also on perhaps the lowest detail and occasional drops, but otherwise it was pretty decent. If you want to play on it, buy a version with better graphics than the Intel one.
As an additional note, I often have to assign Arc graphics to games in the settings, because the computer often tries to run the game with the integrated graphics in the processor, which really won't work. Appearance
I expected a minimalist look from the laptop and that's what you get. Simple, white backlit keyboard, numeric keypad, buttons for quick brightness reduction, etc. I just didn't want to pull out some rainbow monster at school screaming that I was too into gaming.
Someone will love the manual button to block the camera, so you'll save one camera patch if you're worried about someone watching you while you're messing around. Camera and microphone
The camera is pretty good on the laptop, for such a common use really cool. The microphone works. It just works. That's all. If you buy an extra microphone for 200, your friends on the other side of Discord will thank you very much for stopping bothering their ears with the internal microphone. Power modes
I'll just quickly mention the three performance modes. Quiet, standard and game. I guess the names speak for themselves. But don't forget to activate the game one when playing, otherwise you'll wonder how the game doesn't work. Rewards
With the laptop, you'll also get some rewards in the form of an Xbox game pass for a quarter of a year, a free game, and a FREE 3-year extended warranty. The free one is important because Lenovo called me before activating the warranty to ask me if I would like to extend it for an additional 2000 for the year, which I really didn't understand when I got it for free. Batteries
I didn't expect much from the flashlight, so I won't criticize it. It will simply last you for maybe 2 hours of normal use with the saver on. If you have read this far, I will say that I think it is better to invest in a more powerful version of this machine.
