I'm switching to this laptop from a MacBook Air M1, and I'm certainly not playing Apple Inc. protector here.
The MacBook suited me in all aspects, but in macOS I felt that I liked something less, the settings are not very rich and the necessary applications I always found, but. well, I just wanted to get back to the Windows platform.
I'm not naive, I've owned some Windows laptops before, so I suspected I'd have to compromise somewhere for sure. However, the MacBook user knows what I'm talking about. pleasant things are easy to get used to and hard to part with. That's why I was looking for a laptop in a similar price range and had certain requirements.
1. charging via USB-C
2. thunderbolt ports
3. fingerprint
4. all-metal chassis
5. preferably 13.3" to 14"
6. intel CPU (GeForce graphics only an advantage)
This laptop has provided me with a lot. But.
The battery was completely drained at first and this only confirmed my fears. After charging to 100% and disconnecting the power supply, I immediately recognized my first compromise. Battery life. Just miserable. Anyone who has owned or owns a MacBook knows how the battery stands up and I probably don't need to elaborate further.
Another thing that immediately resented, just operating the OS started the fan, which unfortunately is very noisy "at least for my taste" and I immediately knew that my four-fan cooling pad from my previous 15.6" laptop would become a friend of this laptop
Like I get the i7 processor and that M.2 SSD, but. It's okay. It just froze.
The chassis may be all metal, but the temperature of the hand heats it up and a moment later, it doesn't feel much like metal.
MacBook cools the whole time it's on and please. it doesn't have a fan.
I like music, so I decided to play my favorite song.
I can already hear the reactions of some of the readers of my review.
"You're pretty pathetic if all you have to do is listen to music from your laptop. "
Yes. I do know that there is such a device as a speaker. But anyone who has or has had a MacBook knows how its speakers sound, and I'm really talking about the basic MacBook Air M1.
Macbook just doesn't play badly. The sound is full, loud enough and simply nice at any volume level.
This laptop is just loud enough. and the sound is clear, but it's also very, very poor. I'm sorry. And I don't always connect headphones or speakers to my MacBook.
And in conclusion.
Why has the MacBook been mentioned so many times?
The price of this laptop is 27 990 CZK.
MacBook ranges from 29 990 - 26 990 CZK.
Yes, I know 1 TB SSD M.2, dedicated nVidia GeForce 4GB Max-Q card, 16 GB RAM I understand.
But if I leave out the operating systems and these small details that are not that important to me.
(I'd settle for a 256 GB to 512 GB drive, GeForce - just a plus, and 16 GB RAM is fine though. even 8 GB is usable) - I would rather take better processing of this laptop.
It's a fast laptop, everything works, but if Apple can keep the M1 MacBook at this price, why can't MSI tweak those "at least for me" imperfections and make this laptop a little better.
Only time will tell the rest.
