The Onyx Boox Note Air 2 Plus is a great all-purpose device for reading e-books/pdfs/documents and taking notes. The control interface is simple, like other e-ink devices. Compared to the competition (Remarkable2 and Supernote A5X), there is full Google Play and the ability to install apps as you are used to with Android, so you can install what you need (note: with the Note Air2 Plus, full Google Play is a normal part of the system and doesn't need to be added to the device in an obscure way as it was with previous models). But that doesn't mean it's a classic universal tablet - common apps are neither optimized for the e-ink display nor for handwriting using the Wacom layer on this tablet, which brings a number of problems: the user interfaces of Android programs are often unreadable, the use of pencil writing/drawing is completely unusable for all programs except where the manufacturer has prepared an optimization. For me the clincher was the native support for Microsoft OneNote, which works flawlessly (including pen writing). So I can use handwriting on the e-ink display and still have my notes on all the devices I use. Like most devices in this category, the Note Air 2 Plus has an e-ink display with a glass backing that has a diffusion film with a rough surface that makes sounds like you're writing on paper when you write with the included pencil (which is cool). I was worried about potential screen glare due to eye strain, but it's good - thanks to the integrated film, it's no worse than my old Kindle Paperwhite. In my opinion, the better (but unfortunately more expensive) choice is the e-ink Moebius display with a plastic backing, which is lighter and not fragile (you are not so afraid that the device will burst in your backpack). He has e.g. The more expensive, but unfortunately currently unavailable Onyx Note 5. For some, the credibility of the manufacturer may be an issue to consider with the device they are writing notes in, as it is a purely Chinese company that has refused to release the source code of their variant of the system used in the device upon request (which is against the terms of the Android license the device uses). After researching various sources, I would summarize the answer to this question as "someone is addressing this, no one has found anything malicious on Onyx, and you don't have to use their cloud services for backups if you don't want to".

Option to install additional apps from Google Play (but don't expect the speed of standard tablets, this device is primarily a great laptop and reader)
Backlighting (this was the main reason I preferred this tablet over the Remarkable or Supernote). The backlight can also be easily adjusted by swiping on the edge of the display if you set it that way. You can also adjust the hot and cold to suit your needs.
Really great native reading app and the ability to install the Kindle app. On a display this big, I already feel like I'm reading a paper book on both apps.
Overall, I'm thrilled with this device.
Pretty hard to find a cover, but I can give a tip that they have at least one model on the Onyx Boox website
If you have a Kindle, you'll probably find the display a little worse. For one thing, the Kindle has a really great display, and for another, there are 2 extra layers - a Wacom layer that allows you to write and an extra layer that evokes a paper feel. It's just a heads up for any interested parties, not something I personally would mind. It's relatively heavy with the packaging. I solved it by having a smaller Nova Air 2. It's a great combo!

Notes can be divided into "notebooks", notes can be tagged and quickly searched You can download apps directly from the google app store, easy synchronization
Slightly less intuitive controls than what we're used to with smartphones - i.e. it takes a while to set up everything according to your needs

wonderful device for reading / note taking. sync between my work computer via Onenote work miraculously.
using it for 2 weeks; if you prefer taking "hand-written" notes definitely recommend it. too expensive as e-reader. think twice before buying it.

I'm satisfied, I didn't even expect the reader to have so many features. I bought it primarily for reading and annotating documents, and I was very pleasantly surprised by the OCR (the tablet gives the choice of keyboard or OCR when entering text, switches with one click, and opens the previous choice automatically). Through a third party app I am able to connect via cable to a PC and the device works as a graphics tablet and I can also control it with the mouse.

the pencil writes well, the font is legible even after enlarging (exports vectors)
the text recognition in AJ is almost flawless, even ČJ works well beyond expectations, incl. professional words
battery lasts
reading and annotating the pdf is well thought out
does not have a protective case and is currently not available
it is still quite heavy for longer one-handed holding
I couldn't connect screen sharing via BT to my computer
