It's working as it should.
I've used it in Ceresit where I had to slightly trim the support ring where it fits, but it wasn't a drastic modification that would have a major effect on functionality, but the price difference between the refills was significant.
These cartridges do not stain the water, so you can't quite see the level in the moisture trap, but it's not essential to its functionality.
