Why did ALZA wrap the product in several layers of plastic film? After all, it is essentially a wrapper in itself and relatively unbreakable. Most customers would certainly welcome a greener approach.

It is literally a gel and totally unsuitable for cleaning fireplace glass. This is because the gel splashes everywhere on the glass and also creates an unsuitable hard layer on the glass by the fireplace, which you have to wash off with water. Unsuitable for cleaning fireplaces and, more importantly, incredibly ineffective. There are better preparations.
