I replaced the original door with this one because the original door was not holding well and the cats could easily leave the apartment. The new door has only two positions, either free exit/entrance or closed. Closing is solved by a plastic drawer flap which is quite practical, because cats immediately understand that the door is really closed. The disadvantage of the new door is a little noisier opening. Too bad there aren't some bristles on the sides of the flap to dampen the noise a bit. There was a little trouble with the assembly, but only because of the screws that come with the door. They are either long or short. also the assembly instructions are too simple, more detailed would not be detrimental.
On the whole I am very satisfied with the door. All the cats learned to use them right away.
