I have grown to love Philco thanks to the amazing PHWK 2000. I've had that for 8 years and it has worked reliably. Unfortunately, after that time it was already crawling with limescale and I was a bit worried that it would not short-circuit for example. I was looking for it or a newer model. I could even bear a higher price, but unfortunately it is no longer on sale. The only one available is this one. It does have a choice of 5 degrees (the old one had 10), but the advantages end there. The processing is at first glance much cheaper, the kettle does not show the current temperature and after heating the display simply turns off, the buttons have been replaced by a touch pad whose control adds unnecessary steps .

We had really specific requirements for a kettle, and it was a surprise how hard it is to find a kettle that does everything. On paper, this one met our essential requirements (temperature selection 40/90°C, current temperature display, level display visible from the outside). Unfortunately, the devil is hidden in the details that make us uncomfortable using the kettle, so we keep looking.

Temperature selection from 30 - 100°C

The beeping is not too loud and annoying as with other kettles (it beeps when placed on the stand and when pressing the buttons)
The selection buttons do not always respond to the first press (a classic mechanical button would be better)
A lot of pressing before you start heating (unless you cook at 100°C) - the temperature selection is after 5°C and you have to confirm / start heating with another button. You always start at 100°C and it doesn't remember the temperature it cooked last time, so e.g. to cook repeatedly at 40°C is a lot of squeezing.
But most importantly (and this is why we will be returning the kettle) the moment the kettle is not boiling and just standing on the base (a bit wobbly by the way) the on/heat button is still lit. I absolutely do not understand the meaning of this "feature".
Cooks slower than our old ETA Crystela
Burns can occur if you do not grasp the handle in the ideal position; risk of burning if the kettle shell is touched
