With this gateway, I am quite successful in pairing even cheaper bulbs from other manufacturers, but other accessories (switches, etc. ) must be either original or "friendly" and unfortunately either way it's a bit above that financially and the only bright exception is the Hue Dimmer Switch.

I was surprised that you can just connect the cable to the router and control the light (in my case the GO lamp) throughout the apartment (resp. how far the wifi reaches). You can also only control the light from places where the same wifi can reach.
