It's probably the best e-ink device you can get in the 7.8" size. It's so on the edge for reading common PDF technical documentation. PocketBook's software is decent, it doesn't send questionable data to China.
Fine display with good contrast
Good backlight control, looks natural and can be tuned for any lighting conditions
High typographic quality epub format rendering
Direct support for most ebook formats
Decent original software and the ability to play alternative KOreader
Compared to the Kindle, the huge possibilities of setting up the device and customizing the reading experience.
In the picture the frame looks like metal, but the whole body is plastic. The reader came with a crack in the frame, but they replaced it at Alza without any problems.
The buttons each click with a different high-pitched and loud sound - the left one is muffled, the right one clicks so loudly that it's distracting. I've had multiple pieces in my hands and it's different on each one.
Slower system responses e.g. when opening the book settings for the first time, or the first dictionary search after turning it on, etc. It's not a cheap reader, I would have expected significantly better response.
