Previously I used a hub to connect to one of the monitors which caused issues when waking up the computer, as sometimes the monitor wouldn't wake up. This cable allows me to connect directly to one of the ports on the Apple MBP eliminating that issue.
It's always best to have a direct connection than having to use adaptors which can cause connection issues.
I notice that it improves the quality of the displayed image on the monitor.
The length is 1.8m which is okay in most circumstances, but 2.5m to 3m would be even better, as I use three monitors.
