I would compare it a bit to the smell of a vacuum cleaner, such a greasy smell, most likely from the HEPA filter. When used, the smell spreads throughout the room. I wish the filters for this cleaner were not cleanable at all. Otherwise, I can' t complain about anything. Everything else 100% satisfaction.
